Linda Marie Aune, 78, of Cook, MN passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019 at the Cook Care Center. She took the hand of her husband Marvin, who had been waiting in heaven for his beloved "Poo Bear".

Linda was born February 27, 1941 to Clinton (Bud) and Irene (Dokken) Tokvam in Grafton, ND.

Linda married Marvin Aune on October 5, 1957, and lived in the Cook area until moving to their Hindsdale Island home on Lake Vermilion. Linda and Marvin were blessed with three children and were married for 60 years before Marvin passed away.

Linda worked as a waitress in the Cook area for a time and then gained employment with the Northern Farmers Coop Credit Union, where she worked as a bank teller until her retirement. Linda loved to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoyed reading Harlequin books, playing cards, and watching mystery movies while nibbling on sunflower seeds and lemon drops. Linda enjoyed her time at the lake and all the people she got to know there. Linda and Marvin would get visitors by boat or snowmobile. Everyone knew that Linda and Marvin always had a pot of coffee on so they could stop and warm up or just say hi. Linda and Marvin loved ice fishing and sometimes others would show up because they knew there would be extra holes open for anyone who stopped by. Linda loved "hibernating" on her island and enjoyed its tranquility. Linda also enjoyed travelling with her husband around the states.

Linda was a very content and happy person. She had an easy going soul. However, she was no push over; her children remember that "if you heard your full name, you were in big trouble!". After Linda's health failed, she went into home care at Martin's Home for seniors for almost 7 years and then at Cook Care Center for 4 years. The family would like to thank Linda's care givers for the wonderful care she received while with them.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents Clinton and Irene; beloved husband Marvin; sister Karen Waldvogel; and brother Michael Tokvam.

Linda is survived by her children: Dawn (David) Reing of Cook, MN; George (Dona) Aune of Nashwauk; Tim (Eileen) Aune of Gheen, MN; sister Janet (Dale) Luoma of Eveleth, MN; and brother Roger Tokvam of Eveleth, MN; grandchildren: Melissa (Sam) Grahn and their children Emily and Collin; Rebecca (Jason) Lappi and their children Garrett and Brittin; Shalane (Derek Novak) Aune and their children Bella and Mac; Misti (Doug Larson) Aune; and Brently Aune; step-grandchildren: Martin, Dustin, and Chelsie and her children Dakota and Hunter; sister-in-laws: Carol (Virgel/Squeek) McCue; and Katie Aune.
