Linda L. Johnson

Linda L. Johnson, 71, lifetime resident of Cook, passed away on June 5, 2015 at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.

She was born Linda Lou Mann in Cook on January 11, 1944 the daughter of Floyd and Myrtle (Lindsey) Mann. She grew up in Cook, where she graduated from high school in 1962. At the age of 18 she began her career in banking at the Farmers and Merchants State Bank of Cook, currently the First National Bank. Her career spanned over 50 years, and was the current head teller. Linda was a well known and liked personal banker to numerous people in the area and a community servant to many.

She married Arnie "Pete" Johnson on January 3, 1963 in Cook. Linda was a longtime dedicated volunteer of the Cook Hospital Auxiliary, commonly known as the Thrift Shop.

She had many good times with the local informal spinning club. She and Pete liked traveling, the times spent in Alaska were priceless. She loved gardening, antiquing and refinishing woodwork and making crafts. Her family fondly recalls that she collected anything with a chicken on it. She attended Earthfest and liked the challenge of making "earthy" items such as cheese and soap. She was a lover of all animals especially her family dogs. Linda will be greatly missed by her family, friends and the Cook area community.

Linda is preceded in death by her father Floyd Mann (1984), mother Myrtle Mann (1999), sister-in-law: Betsy Mann (2000) and brother-in-law Donald Barnes (2015)

She is survived by her husband of 52 years Arnie "Pete" Johnson; one son: Shane (Rachel) Johnson; 2 dear grandchildren, Chloe and Katie Johnson; 1 brother, Robert Mann; 1 sister, Donna Barnes; 1 nephew Larry (Becky) Barnes , all of Cook; 2 nieces, Debbie (Bruce) Maki of Virginia and Diane(Alan) Brunner of Cook; 1 aunt, Olive Rasch of Hibbing, along with other extended family and numerous friends.

SERVICES: Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Rev. Art Dale will be the officiant.
