Marion A. Kozumplik
Marion A. Kozumplik, 86, Meadowlands, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, May 3, 2015.
She was born Marion Antionette Raich on July 28, 1928, at Cicero, Illinois, the daughter of Anton and Mary (Oulicky) Raich. She grew up Meadowlands, where she graduated from Meadowlands High School in 1946, and where all of her 7 children graduated from. Marion was united in marriage to Frank J. Kozumplik on June 30, 1951, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Meadowlands. She raised seven children and was instrumental in running the family farm with her husband Frank. The farm is still family owned by the 3rd generation. She and Frank instilled honesty and good work ethic in their children, which serves them well to this day. They took part in the early farmer's market in Hibbing, setting up selling fresh meat and vegetables. She was a longtime active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she helped with funeral luncheons and for many years made numerous beautiful quilts for the church bazaars.
Marion was an avid reader, a gifted sewer and quilt maker, took pride in her flower and vegetable gardens and was a wonderful family story teller. She was the "go to" family and community historian who could be counted on to remember dates, names and long ago events. When the times were available she enjoyed traveling.
She is preceded in death by her husband Frank (1994), one grandson, Adam Kozumplik (1995), one sister, Dorothy Newman (2011); two sons-in-law, Allen Minerich (2011) and John "Jack" Erchul (2014).
Marion is survived by 4 sons: Frank (Lissa) Kozumplik and Anthony "Tony" (Lynette) Kozumplik both of Meadowlands, Richard (Lynn) Kozumplik of Hibbing and Thomas (Andrea) Kozumplik of Forbes; 3 daughters: Kathleen Erchul of Sun City West, AZ, Marion Minerich of Hibbing and Betty (Warren) Mlaker of Cook; 3 brothers: Anton "Tony" (Betty) Raich and Richard (Charlotte) Raich both of Meadowlands, and James Raich of Cohasset; special cousin Patricia Horvath of Meadowlands; 17 Grandchildren: Ben Kozumplik, Aaron Kozumplik, Peter (Sara) Kozumplik, Ashley (Jeff) Ralston, Apolena (Brett) Brletich, Anthony (Alea Kemp) Kozumplik, Abigail Kozumplik, Alex Kozumplik, Jared (Kristen Johnson) Kozumplik, Lindsay Kozumplik,
Amanda Minerich, Megan (Andrew) Baertsch, Philip Mlaker, Travis (Lindsey) Kozumplik, Tyler Kozumplik, Carrie (Brandon) Yuhala and Casie (John) Chimento; 8 Great Grandchildren: Izzak, Chistopher, Elena, Mila, Emery, Gabriel, Chloe and Kinley; and numerous special nieces, nephews and friends.
