Marion M. Long, age 100 and 19 days, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023. Her goal was to "make it to 100 and be done".

Marion was born on November 11, 1923 in Stanley, Wisconsin to George and Julia (Roethler) Smith. She graduated from Orr High School in 1942. Marion married Bob Long on October 19, 1942 in Orr, MN.

Marion was never afraid of working. She, alongside her husband, cut pulpwood. She also drove a semi-truck to M&O Mill in International Falls. She and Ina Heikkala turned wild rice at Hoffmans for many years. She was employed for 20 years by Hill Wood Products in Cook, making wooden dowels. Marion served on the election board for 50 years and was a lifetime member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Orr, MN. She knew every blueberry hill in the Orr area. Marion was an avid deer hunter and shot her last deer at age 92. She was also an avid gardener and enjoyed that throughout her life.

Marion is survived by her son Thomas (Judy) Long; daughter-in-law Diane Long; 5 grandsons: Tommy, Randy (Wendy), Jon (Caitlin), Jason (Melissa) and Ryan (Michelle) Long; 10 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bob Long; and sons Clinton and Dale.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 11:00am at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Orr, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
