Melvin Maturi,64, of Orr MN passed away on July 29, 2026, peacefully at home. Born on July 18, 1962, to Melvin and Elsie Maturi. Mel worked for the family logging business and graduated from Chisholm High School, then graduating from Tech School earning his law enforcement degree. He worked for the City of Chisholm Police Department for 30 years, advancing to Captain. When he retired, he moved up to his home on Pelican Lake in Orr MN and enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and spending time with family and friends. He took many trips to Alaska, Canada and numerous other locations to go fishing and hunting with good friends and family. He was well known for his long talks and large laughs with everyone-even those he arrested. Melvin was a loving and devoted husband of 34 years to Carolyn, loving father to Krystina, father-in-law to Chad, grandpa to Cai and Camden and brother to Cathy and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Elsie Maturi.

A Celebration of Life will be at the Orr Community Center (old Legion) on Monday, August 17, 2026. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 12:00 and Memorial service at noon.
