Obituary

Michael "Mick" Knaffla was born on July 8, 1951. Mick grew up spending a lot of time hunting, fishing, and camping. He continued to do so throughout his entire life. Mick also loved spending time with his family at home, particularly his grandchildren. When not home, he loved spending time with his closest friends at the shack. Mick served his country in the Navy on the U.S.S. Kittyhawk, and most recently retired from Minnesota Power Hydro.

On October 12, 2022, Mick spent his final hours surrounded by those he loved. He was preceded in death by his sister Colleen Vaughn;  grandparents: Emil and Olga Knaffla and Arthur and Olive Crippen; aunts and uncles: June VanHale, Grace Torkelson, Les Knaffla, Shirley Bowes, Paul Knaffla, Ione Larson, Ida Gassert, Ernie Crippen and Roy Crippen.

He will be missed dearly earth-side by his wife, Ranae; his parents, Marvin and Faye; his brother Howard; his children: Christopher (Sabrina) and their children; Michael (Kali) and their children; Blaire (Lynsey); Sean (Veronica) and their children; Nikki (Ben) and their children; and Kelly (Jesse) and their two fur babies. Not to mention many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many close friends who felt like family.
