Nancy R. Mihm of Cook died peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.

She was born March 25, 1935 in Vermilion Dam to William and Rose (Gruska) Maki. She grew up in Vermilion Dam and Crane Lake, where her parents owned Maki's Sandpoint Lodge.

Nancy attended Vermilion Dam School and then Cook High School in which she graduated in 1953. Following High School, she attended Minneapolis School of Business.

On August 14, 1954, she was united in marriage to Jerry Mihm. They lived in Germany for 15 months while Jerry served in the U.S Army. After returning, they built their home and resided in Cook.

Nancy worked as a member service representative at the Northern Co-op Credit Union, a medical secretary for the clinic, and a bookkeeper for Northern Farmers Co-op Feed Mill. She also delivered mail for the U.S. Post Office, keeping Jerry busy maintaining her cars.

Nancy was a member of the Cook Congregational Church where Jerry and her got married. She also volunteered at Ruby's Pantry for the last 10 years.

Nancy had a competitive spirit and enjoyed playing games. She loved playing in smear tournaments around the Iron Range.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; and husband Jerry on August 5, 2008. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Susan (Peter) Stone; son Greg (Coralee) Mihm; grandchildren: Chad (Connie) Stone, Brandi (Max) Embacher, Justin (Stephanie) Mihm, and Brandon (Amber Wilke) Mihm; great-grandchildren Steven (Alli Sandberg) Stone, Makenzie (Justin) Huberty, Hailey (Michael Anderson) Embacher, Kate (Drake Zibble) Stone, Devin Embacher, Hunter Mihm, Mason Mihm, and Addison Mihm;  great-great grandchildren: Braelynn and Sutton. She is also survived by her best friend Barb.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 12:00pm at Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church at 11:00am. Lunch will be served at the church following the service.
