Obituary

Neil Joseph Christensen, 43, Gardner, Kansas passed away Monday, March 3, 2025 at his home.

Neil was born on March 12, 1981 in Virginia, Minnesota to Joseph Martin Christensen and Elaine Frances (Zika) Lake. He grew up in Minnesota in the Twin Cities Metro Area. He moved to Kansas in August of 2001 where he met the love of his life, Christine Walters. Neil and Christy were married on April 19, 2005 in Belton, Missouri.

Neil worked at Centrinex as a call center analyst for 14 years. Neil was known for his infectious laugh, beautiful smile, and of course, his inappropriate jokes. His favorite place was relaxing at home on the couch with his family playing Jeopardy. He cherished his family and spent every minute he could with his wife and children. Neil loved being with family and friends and having weekend fires with the Brown family, and simply just enjoying life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Neil is preceded in death by his grandparents Alan and Kay Zika, Brae and Rea Pattenn, and Phillip Christensen.  His father Joseph Christensen. His father-in-law Vance Walters. His cousins Kristen Gustafson, Alex Cook, and Mariah Olson.  And his uncles Lewis Lohn and Peter Zika.

He is survived by his wife Christy and his children, Joseph and Jillian all from Gardner, Kansas. His mother Elaine Lake and step-dad Ed Lake of Hill City, Minnesota.  His mother-in-law Mary Ireland of Olathe, Kansas.  His sister Rabecca Christensen of Colorado Springs, Colorado. His step-grandmother Barb Christensen of Orr, Minnesota.  His honorary brothers, Troy, Joe and Joel. And numerous uncles and aunts, brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life was held for Neil in Gardner, KS.  At this time there is tentative plans for a Celebration of Life in MN in June.
