Obituary

(December 9, 1935- December 10, 2022)

Phyllis Victoria (Benson) (Trygg) Edblom, 87, passed away at St. John's Hospital on December 10, 2022. She was born December 9, 1935 to Herman and Hulda (Lindholm) Benson. She went to school in Cook and graduated from Cook High School.  She attended the Mounds-Midway School of Nursing and graduated in 1956. She then went to the University of Minnesota to get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Next, she taught for a number of years back at Mounds-Midway School of Nursing. Most of her working years were spent at Midway Hospital, Mounds Park Hospital and finally St. John's Hospital. She retired at age 65.

In 1971, while living in St. Paul, she married Daniel Trygg. She helped raise his 5 children Sara, Danny, Jamie, Kurt, and Brian K. In 1980 they legally adopted Brian A after being his foster parents for a number of years. She was very involved at her church where she taught women's ministries bible studies for many years. She and Dan loved to travel and visit relatives. They travelled to New Jersey, Washington, Alaska and Florida and everywhere in between. They also went to Sweden on numerous occasions.  She became a widow in 1996 after a heart attack took her beloved husband.

She found love again and was married to Donald Edblom in 1999. They enjoyed playing games like dominos and zilch with friends and family. They also loved travel which included going to Florida during the winter. She became a widow again in 2004 when Don also died of a heart attack.

Phyllis loved to have family and friends over where drinks (primarily coffee) and treats were always offered. Phyllis loved her black coffee and her home was filled with the wonderful aroma of it. KTIS, the local Christian radio station, was often playing in the background. She would always look impeccable from her hair down to her shoes. When by herself she loved to read her Bible and listen to hymns. She took many classes in Swedish at the Swedish Institute. She enjoyed walking which included going on a walking tour in Austria. Later in life she had a pug dog named Winston that she loved dearly.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husbands' Daniel and Donald; sisters: Judith, Ragnhild, Ruth, Goldie, Helmy, Marvelle; and brother Sigurd; and stepson Jamie. She is survived by her children: Sara Joslin, Danny (Joan) Trygg, Kurt (Patti) Trygg, Brian K (Cathy) Trygg, and Brian A (Kelly) Trygg: many grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
