Renee Marie Powers peacefully passed away on January 03, 2026, at the age of 62.

Renee was born on January 05, 1963, to Rodney and Ione (Skraba) Johnson in Denver, CO. and grew up and attended school in Cook, MN.

Renee married Lloyd Roethler and together they raised 3 beautiful children, Shannon, Michelle and Derek. Renee and her family operated the Crescent Supper Club in Cook, MN and then the Tower Bakery in Tower, MN. They later moved to New Ulm, MN where she was Bakery Manager for Cashwise Foods. She raised her children in New Ulm and later she moved back to the Iron Range, met and married Jim Powers in 2016. She and Jim loved hunting, fishing, dancing and floating on the lake. She was a warm and caring person who loved all people. Strangers were never strangers for long; she would strike up a conversation with all types of people. Renee always saw the good in people and never judged anyone; many times, she would give gifts she received to others just to brighten their day. Renee loved to share memories of the past with family and friends.

Renee is preceded in death by her parents Rodney and Ione, her brother Rocky Johnson, Grandparents Melvin and Marie Johnson and Pete and Irene Skraba.

She is survived by her husband Jim Powers; daughters: Shannon (Justin) and Michelle; her son Derek; step-daughter Madeline (Zach); and stepson Niles; her brothers: Pete Johnson (Penny) and Jeff Johnson (Nena); her sister Rhonda Taylor (Travis); her grandchildren: Issac, Austin, Alexa, Jordan, Mahlia, Myles, Malachi Tayler, Silus, Oliver, Oden, and Eden; numerous nieces and nephews; and her cat Uno.

Renee will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

A celebration of Renee's life will be held at a later date.
