Richard Theodore
Johnson
Jul 24, 1941 — Apr 3, 2022
Richard "Dick" Theodore Johnson, 80, of Cook, MN passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022.
Born July 24, 1941 in St Louis Park MN. Preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Agnes Johnson; and his sister Jacqueline Zunker. Dick is survived by his wife Kitty Johnson; son Paul (Connie Olson) Johnson; and daughter Jodi (Andy) Nellis; grandsons: Brandon (Tracy) Johnson, Matthew Johnson and Nick Nellis. Dick was a great-grandfather to 3 great-grandsons: Ethan, Zachary, Declan Johnson. Dick is also survived by his best friend; his dog Maggie.
Dick grew up in St. Louis Park MN. He joined the United States Air Force in 1959 and honorably served his country for 4 years. He was united in marriage to Kathleen "Kitty" Cory on January 1, 1966. He and his family moved to northern MN in 1978. Dick owned a cleaning company for a few years and then started gambling sales with Triple Crown gambling. He retired in 2007 to his favorite place "Camp Swampy" in Bear River.
Dick, in his younger years, was an avid duck and deer hunter. In more recent years he seemed to enjoy feeding and watching the deer more than hunting. He also enjoyed 4-wheeling. Dick loved playing a good card game with his family; laughing and joking until he had everyone in tears. Humor was always part of his family, along with the loving and respectful attitude he instilled in his children and grandchildren. Dick was a loving husband to Kitty and a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He passed away peacefully at home following a brief battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family.
