Richard "Dick" J. White

Richard "Dick" J. White, 87, Cook, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at the Mille Lacs Health System Medical Center in Onamia.
He was born Richard James White on July 25, 1927, in Minneapolis, the son of

James and Mary (Shuster) White. At the age of 5 he moved with his family to Greaney, then graduated from Orr High School in 1945. He married EmaDee Eichholz (of the Vermilion Dam area) on June 25, 1955 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cook. After marriage the couple settled in Cook, where they raised their family and have since resided. EmaDee was a dedicated nurse for over 40 years, she passed away unexpectedly February 8, 2015. They were lifelong members of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cook. Dick served as an usher and was a longtime member of St. Mary's Choir. Dick and EmaDee were both were committed volunteer drivers for the Meals on Wheels program. Dick was a driver-salesman for Twin Pine Dairy and also drove truck for several firms. Dick worked as a security guard during the construction of Potlatch in Cook, bartended at the former Cook Municipal Liquor Store, and worked at the Cook Coop Store. He served 6 years with the Minnesota National Guard, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Moose Club. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, polka music and dancing and his league bowling. He was also an avid sports fan.  He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, EmaDee on February 8, 2015, and 1 sister, Vallery Fandrich.

Dick is survived by 2 sons, Douglas (Nicole) White of Carlton and James (Karen) White of Bemidji, MN; 3 daughters, Gena Stoterau of Virginia, MN, Anita White of St Paul, MN and Diana White of Cohasset, MN; 1 sister, Winnie Sage of Round Lake, IL, 11 Grandchildren: Emy (Jason), Jason (Kendra), Lyle, Isak (Jenna), Travis, Kristian, Alec, Cole, Connor, Justin and Lauren; 3 great grandchildren: Danica, Gavin and Kali; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Monday (March 9th) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cook. Visitation will be held one hour prior the funeral   Father Drew Braun will be the celebrant. St. Mary's Choir will sing with Marjorie Miller providing the accompaniment. A reception in Dick's honor will be in the church social hall immediately after the service. Spring burial will be the Birch Grove Cemetery in Vermilion Dam.
