Obituary

Roger Eugene Renmoe, 82, of Virginia, MN., formerly of Cook, MN., passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2018.

Roger was born on October 15, 1936 in Naples, SD., to Elmer and Marvel (Thompson) Renmoe. Soon after he was born, he traveled by train to Washington State with his mother to join his father Elmer who was working there at that time. The family then moved to Churches Ferry, North Dakota.

In 1956 Roger enlisted in the Air Force and served as a medic and for the Office of Special Investigations. He was stationed in Japan for two years and had many memories and experiences during that time. After serving honorably, he was released from duty in 1958. Roger returned to South Dakota and worked for the elevators driving grain trucks.

Roger was united in marriage to Annette Lakness in February of 1961; they were blessed with two children, Rhonda and Eric. The young family moved to Burnsville, MN where Roger worked as a homebuilder and carpenter. He obtained his private pilot license in the late 1960's and loved to fly.

Roger moved to the Duluth/Cook, MN area and semi-retired to enjoy camping, fishing and coffee with friends. He also enjoyed the airplanes at the Cook Airport. Roger had a variety of interests and was very learned despite only going through 8 th grade. He enjoyed forestry and planted many trees. He also enjoyed photography, history, mechanics and national geography. He owned his own sawmill and built many projects. Roger was also a man of faith.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his brother LeRoy; his nephew Rick Renmoe; and many other friends and relatives.

Roger is survived by his daughter Rhonda Larson and her husband Steve of Hayti, SD; his son Eric Renmoe and his wife Amy of Hayti, SD; grandchildren: Sandra and Tim Scotting, Christi and Jay Rosenlund, Kelli Larson, Candace and Zach West, Kip Cederstrom, Duff Renmoe, Jack Renmoe, and Alexia Alba; 11 great-grandchildren and niece Robin (Dave) Davalos.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Mlaker Funeral Home, Cook, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Military Honors will be accorded by Cook VFW Post #1757 Honor Guard and the Orr American Legion Post #480 Honor Guard. To leave an online condolence visit www.mlakerfuneralhome.com
