Rojean Strong Hartland
Rojean "Roje" Strong Hartland "Ozaawa Anagookwe" (Yellow Star Woman) 42, Virginia, formerly of Nett Lake passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 in Virginia, MN.
She was born in Denver, Colorado on July 31st 1973 to Terrence Joseph (deceased 1996) and Rosemary Strong.
She grew up in Duluth, MN, until she was three, then moved to Nett Lake, MN. She later moved to Lake Vermilion where she was employed as a bingo caller and blackjack dealer for many years. She then resided in Virginia. "Roje" enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She was a beautiful, fun spirited, passionate, kind, loving person that would help out any of her friends or family. She loved listening to music, drawing, and beading. Conway Twitty and Garfield were her favorites.
"Roje" is survived by her husband, David Hartland of Lake Vermilion-Tower; her mother, Rosemary Strong of Lake Vermilion-Tower; two brothers, George J. Strong of Lake Vermilion-Tower, Tony Nichols of Virginia; one sister, Terry (Eugene Boshey Jr.) Strong of Lake Vermilion-Tower; three sons, George R. (Monica Porter) Strong, Aiden J. (Geraldine Deegan) Strong, Keenin Sargent; three daughters, Alyssa (Jonathan Connor Jr.) Keezer, Desirae Keezer, Kiana Sargent, all of Lake Vermilion-Tower; six grandchildren, Latise, Nitanis, Silas Strong, Carter and Evellette Buckanaga, and Reese Isaiah Connor; special friend, Corey Wynn; six nieces and nephews, Michael, Rhieanna, Danika, Alex, Terrance, and Darlene; two great nephews, Kyden and Prestan; along with many family and friends.
She is preceded into death by her father, Terrence Strong; 4 children, Isaiah Sargent and baby boy Keezer, and twin babies.
SERVICES: Traditional Services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the Bois Forte Government & Services Center in Nett Lake. The Wake will begin after 5:00 PM Tuesday at the center. The Spiritual leader will be Vince Merrill and Spiritual helper will be Lynn Olson. The pallbearers are: Scott Syversrud, Mike Adams, Tim Chavers, Gene Boshey Jr., Kevin Strong, and Lance Hill. the honorary pallbearers are Brandon Benner, Travis Morrison, Corey Strong, Eric Strong, Jonathan Connor Jr., Michael Connor, George R. Strong, Aidan Strong, Keenin Sargent, Alex Dufault, Terrance J. Strong – Boshey and Mark Connor. Interment will be in the Nett Lake Village Cemetery.
