Ronald R. Burland
Ronald Robert Burland, 78, Orr, passed away peacefully at the Cook Nursing Home on the morning of 28 November 2015.
Ron was born on December 26, 1936 in Minneapolis the son of Frank and Nora (Beedy) Burland. He graduated from Edison High School, and his love of children led him to a career in education. During his life he attained a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in education and was a respected leader both in the schools he taught in and as a longtime member and one time president of the teacher's union. He taught at the elementary and college level and retired as a school principal after more then forty years of dedicated service. Ron was a valued member of the Lion's Club, and as an avid outdoorsman had a special love for the woods and lakes of northern Minnesota. He spent all of his free time, weekends, and holidays hunting, fishing, and taking pictures with his friends and family.
Ron is survived by his wife Susan; sister, Dona (Gary) Anderson; children: Rachel (Wayne) Johnson, Becky (Scott Iverson) Burland, Brett (Alexandra) Burland, Bryan (Geralynn) Sampson, Bruce (ReNee) Sampson, Troy (Leslie Rohlf) Sampson, and Ashley Penoncello; grandchildren: Anna, Deanna, Alexandra, Sarah, Eric, Ashley, Amanda, Andrea, Adeline, Jordan, Lily and Payton; great grandchildren, Travis, Aiden and Jarin; along with many friends.
SERVICES: Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, December 4, 2015 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Orr. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Rev. Tom Kennebeck will be the officiant. A reception in Ron's honor will be held after the service in the church social hall. Arrangements are with the Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook.
