Scott G. Thomas, 52, Cook, passed away unexpectedly the result of a logging accident on December 31, 2015 near Cook

He was born Scott George Thomas on April 19, 1963 in Virginia, the son of Robert and Norma (Nieters) Thomas. He was raised in Cook and graduated from the Cook High School in 1981, where he excelled in high school football. He married Susan Chapman on September 11, 1993 in Cook. He owned and operated Thomas Logging for the past 25 years. His happiest times revolved around his son Erik. Scott enjoyed an active part in Erik's sports programs. He was faithful to help out and attend every event.

Scott's passion was fishing, especially spearing. He enjoyed his cabin in Baudette, near Lake of the Woods, here he could pursue his love of fishing.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Charlotte Nieters, and
paternal grandparents, Donovan and Elsie Thomas; and his father and mother-in-law, Dick and Jackie Chapman.

Scott is survived by his wife Susan of Cook; one son Erik Thomas of Cook; parents Robert and Norma Thomas of Cook; a sister Debra (Randy) Bradt of Zumbrota, MN; 2 nieces Ashley and Kala Swenson; 3 nephews Nathan Bradt, Joshua Swenson and Kyle Swenson; one aunt Jane (David) Olson of Sequim, WA; and his faithful pet golden retriever, Odin.

SERVICES: Memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, (January 9th) at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cook, A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6-8 pm on Friday at Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Bruce Hannem will be the officiant.
A reception in Scott's honor will be held in the church social hall immediately after the service. Spring burial will be held in the Clemenson Cemetery, near Baudettte,per Scott's wishes.
