Cook- Shirley M. Bixby, 87 passed away peacefully on Friday, August 16th, 2024.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Charles; parents John and Ida Jacobson; and siblings: Sulo, Melvin, Ailie, Marvin, Darlene, and Barbara.

She is survived by her adoring children: Dale and Jody Bixby, Denise and Ron Friend, Dean and Jacqueline Bixby, along with 10 grandchildren: Lindsey, Cody, Christina, Rachel, Jason, Jacob, Maralee, Holly, Jillian, and Michelle; and great-grandchildren: Grant, Claire, Brooke, Willa, Leo, Allie, Christian, Kyrie, Aubrey, Veyda, Pyrce, and Rory; as well as many extended relatives.

Shirley graduated from Cook HS and worked for many years at the Farmers & Merchants State Bank in Cook, and the Bois Forte Business Office in Nett Lake before her retirement.  She was also active in the Cook community volunteering with multiple organizations.

She loved many things in life such as knitting, playing cards, and making doll clothes. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren play in numerous sporting events. She also loved to watch the Minnesota Vikings and was an avid fan. She will leave a void with her family and will be deeply missed.

The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to the Cook Care Center for treating Shirley like she was a member of their own family.

A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, August 28th, 2024, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cook with visitation from 1:00-2:00 pm and a funeral service following at 2:00pm.
