Obituary

Shirley Ann Cheney

Shirley Ann Cheney, 70 of Angora Township passed away peacefully, with her loving family at her side, on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at her residence.

Shirley was born on April 16, 1947 in Soudan the daughter of Richard  and Alberta (Frabel) Miller.  She grew up in the Duluth and Angora areas, and met Wayne E. Cheney. On June 16, 1963, they married in Williamsport, Indiana.  The couple settled in Ely, then moved to Gilbert, always maintaining their "cabin" in Angora, where the Cheney family has their roots.  In 1991 they moved to Angora permanently, where they have since resided.  Shirley was a dedicated homemaker, taking pride in her household and raising their six children.   She was a devoted wife, loving mother and doting grandmother.  Wayne and Shirley were proud that all of their children were baptized and confirmed   Shirley was a avid, longtime, passionate Bingo player.  Everyone was welcome in her home, even her children's friends became known as "her kids."   She helped everyone and was very supportive and encouraging to all.   Shirley was talented in art and craft making- whether it was wood, metal or glass.  Her family fondly recalls that at one time she wanted a grandfather clock so badly, she made one herself.  She cherished the time spent with her family.  Shirley will be dearly missed by her family and all those who came to know her.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Alberta Frabel Hashey; and brothers, Albert Miller and Richard Miller.
