Susan "Sue" E. Warzonek

Susan "Sue" E. Warzonek, 91, Orr, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 29, 2015.
She was born Susan Elizabeth Friedges on January 23, 1924, in New Market, Minnesota; the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Wagner) Friedges. She grew up in New Market, where she was united in Holy Matrimony to Edward Warzonek on May 21, 1947. She was the proud wife of a Army World War II decorated veteran. They farmed for 10 years, then moved to Myrtle Lake, east of Orr in 1957, where they owned and operated Myrtle Lake Resort for 18 years. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her eight children. Her family fondly recalls the unforgettable, wonderful New Year's Eve parties on Myrtle Lake and snowshoe baseball games. Some of her best times were spent with family and friends playing card games. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church of Orr, where she belonged to the Catholic Women's Club. Always active, she was on the housing board of the Kallio Apartments, a member of the Cook VFW Auxiliary, Orr American Legion Post #480 Auxiliary, and involved in the Memorial Day program. She owned the Orr Laundromat, sold Avon products, later was a cook at the Orr High School, then after retirement worked at the Orr Municipal Liquor Store. She enjoyed her knitting club with the local ladies, loved to can vegetables and preserves, made wonderful homemade bread and unrepeatable fried chicken. Later, she and Ed spent many retirement winters in their motor home in Arizona. She will be truly missed by all who came to know her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward on August 16, 1999 and 2 brothers, Roman and Elmer Friedges.
