Teresa M. Morrison

Teresa M. Morrison, 59, "Bay bum mugch chu we bik" (meaning traveling up a hill or mountain), of Nett Lake, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the Mayo Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

She was born on March 5, 1958, in Cook, the daughter of William and Twyla (Drift) Day.  She grew up in Nett Lake, where she was a lifelong resident.  Teresa graduated form Orr High School in 1976. She married David C. Morrison on May 21, 1977 in Nett Lake, where the couple resided and raised their family.  Teresa was the longtime  committed  bookkeeper at the Bois Forte Health Clinic.  She was a  EMT volunteer for the Bois Forte Ambulance, with 28 years of dedicated service.  She found personal satisfaction in helping others in their health concerns. Teresa attended the Nett Lake Baptist Church and was a member of the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa.   She  proudly followed her children and grandson Angelo in sports. She enjoyed watching and feeding the hummingbirds. She was the main  person responsible  for putting on the concession stands for sports and fundraisers, along with doing the scorekeeping duties.

She enjoyed cooking and coordinating family dinners, get-togethers and picnics.  Her other interests included listening to music, picking blueberries and wild ricing.  Teresa was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by an infant son, David Curtiss Day; her mother, Twyla Day; 2 brothers, William Jr. and Bernard Day;  and 2 sisters, Beryl and Connie Day.

Teresa is survived by her husband, David Sr.; her father, William (Ardyth Smith) Day of Nett Lake; 2 sons, David "Squidg" (Kristen Strong) Morrison Jr. and Darian Morrison, both of Nett Lake; 1 daughter, Erynn (Lance Kingbird) Morrison of Nett Lake; 3 brothers, John Day of Nett Lake, Bradley Day of McKinley, and Burton Day of Wisconsin; 3 sisters, Doris (Ira) Isham, Kathleen "Patsy" (Gordon) Adams Jr, both of Nett Lake, and Marilyn (Terry Laduke) LaRoque of Cass Lake; 5 cherished grandchildren, Angelo and Alyvia Kingbird, Jennifer Morrison, Stacie Howe, and Calandra Staples; along with other special extended family, including nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, May 24 ^th at the Government and Services Center in Nett Lake, where the Wake will begin at 5:00 pm Tuesday.  Rev. Kevin Land will be the officiant. The pianist will be Julie Whiteman.  The casket bearers will be Jaylen Strong, Corey A. Strong, Corey Strong, Tristan Day, Tanner Laduke, Gordon Adams III., Lance Kingbird, and Mike Connor.  The honorary bearers will be Jeneal Goggleye, Pamela Hughes, Wendy Thompson, Terrie Morrison, Raymond Hawk, Kristen Strong, and all her nieces and nephews.  Interment will be in the Nett Lake Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Mlaker Funeral  Home in Cook.
