Terrance Keith Newman, Sr. "Shorty".

It is with great sadness that the family of Shorty Newman announces his passing on February, 21, 2018. Shorty passed away at the Cook Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Shorty was born June 23, 1947 to Albert and Stella (Mishaw) Newman, in Grand Rapids, MN. Shorty grew up on the family farm in Togo, the youngest of 12 children. He was drafted into the US Army October 1966 to September 1968, and did a tour in Vietnam as a radio tele-type operator. Returning to the Northern Minnesota he loved, he met and married Patricia, and they had two children, Terry Jr. and Stacey.

Shorty worked many years of construction and logging. He then worked at Inland Steel Mining until he retired in 2009. An avid enthusiast of the outdoors, Shorty enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and four-wheeling. He also enjoyed carpentry and working in his garage. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Shorty is preceded in death by his parents: Albert and Stella Newman; three brothers: Bub, Harley and Pat; three sisters: Veda Mohler, Tiny Bolduc, and Tudy Dorrington.

Shorty is survived by his loving partner and wife of 32 years, Lindie Danyluk Newman; son Terry (Cari) Newman of Golden, Colorado and their children Ashley, Lane, and Calista and Jayden; daughter Stacey (Terry) Steel of Bovey, MN, and their children Dallas, Taylor and Logan; step grandchildren Ashley Krall and her daughter Ellie and Hana Gaudreau and her son Harper; two brothers: Ole Newman of Togo, MN and Mike Newman of Hibbing, MN; three sisters: June Whitlock of Hibbing, MN, Dot Hagen of Elkhorn, WI, and Mikki Ehlers of West Bend, WI; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, in-laws and out-laws.

With an amazing heart and kindness, Shorty always helped a friend or family in need. The family requests that you take time to spend with loved ones, and share your feelings for them before it's too late.
