Obituary

Thelma Louise Rask, 93, of Britt, MN passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022.

Thelma was born and raised in Silverdale, MN and later moved to Britt, MN. She graduated from Orr High School in 1946. She then attended University of Minnesota, gaining her teaching degree. Thelma taught in an extended area in the St. Louis County school system including: Idington, Alango, Albrook, Toivola Meadowlands, Pike and Cook; teaching for 40 plus years before retiring in 1990.

Thelma was a hardworking woman; along with teaching, she and her husband raised cows and farmed. She loved to name her cows and had a soft spot for all animals. She also had and loved many dogs throughout her lifetime. Thelma enjoyed working in her flower garden, bowling, playing bingo and teaching Sunday school. She loved taking her boys to the races when her husband was working and going on adventures and spending time with her good friend Mayme Hilmas. She was a member of many clubs: Eastern Star, Tops, RSVP's, Red Hat Society, MEA and Via Da Cristo. Thelma was also a member of ADK - Alpha Delta Kappa, a group of educators who worked to further education and supported students going into education with scholarships. She was a lifetime member of the Sand Lake Chapel in Britt, MN. Thelma was a very sweet and kind person. She will be dearly missed.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Wilma (Nurse) Shogren; husband Raymond Rask in 2012; sisters Irma Shogren in 1940 at 8 years old and Doris Ann Sveen in 1989.

Thelma is survived by her sons: James (Karen) Rask of Melrude, MN; Robert (Beth) Rask of Britt, MN; Owen Rask of Iron, MN; grandchildren: Gracie (Henry) Reurink of Hopkins, MI, Katie (Wayne) Anderson of Makinen, MN; Adam Rask of Virginia, MN; Tommy Rask of Two Harbors, MN; Rusty (Emily) Rask of Gilbert, MN; Brittany (Darin Bratland) Rask of Saginaw, MN; 9 great-grandchildren; brother Everett "Bud" (Jean) Shogren; sister Fay "GeeGee" Dickey; goddaughters: Diane Dickey and Linnea Bell.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 7, 2021 at 11:00AM at the Sand Lake Chapel, Britt, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service at the church. Online condolences to www.mlakerfuneralhome.com
