Tony Lammi

Tony Lammi, 74, Orr, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, March 7, 2015.

He was born on November 12, 1940 in Virginia, to Walter and Bertha (Ahola) Lammi. He graduated from Orr High School in 1958, then Salter Technical School in Duluth, completing their 2 year architectural drafting course program. He was assistant manager of Northland Lumber in International Falls, then served as a St. Louis County clerk for 4 years. He married Sherrie Kneen on April 14, 1962, and they were the proud parents of two children, Jeff and Jill.

He lived in Florida for 12 years, where he managed the Folding Shutter Corporation. He and Sherrie moved back to Orr when he purchased the Scott Erickson Lumber Company in Orr in 1982. They then owned and operated Lammi Lumber and Hardware for the next 16 years. He was proud of the town of Orr and worked towards its improvement, growth and prosperity. He served as the mayor of Orr, and on its city council. After retirement, he kept busy with various jobs. Tony was well liked and will be missed by the many who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Jill Lammi; a sister, Barbara Malmstrom; and special uncle, Edwin Lammi.

Tony is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sherrie; 1 son, Jeff (Tracy); 1 grandson, Ryan Lammi; 3 granddaughters: Malori Lammi, Kerrisa (Joel) Anderson, Kaylee (fiancé: Isaac Bergstrom) Malmstrom; nephews: Rick (Holly) Malmstrom, John Malmstrom and David (Sheila) Malmstrom; mother-in-law, Eleanor Kneen; and special cousin, Jean Lammi-Jacob.

SERVICES: Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday (March 12 th ) at Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook, with a gathering of family and friends from 12 noon until the hour of service at the funeral home. Rev. Arthur Dale will be the officiant. Angel Aker will be the soloist. Spring interment will be in the Leiding Cemetery of Orr.
