Vicki L. Esterby

Vicki Lynn Esterby, 60, Cook passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Cook Care Center, with family at her side.

She was born Vicky Lynn Singleton on October 8, 1955 in Duluth, the daughter of Leslie and Lorraine (Wackler) Singleton. She was raised in Duluth, graduating from Duluth Central High School in 1974. She then furthered her education by three years of study at St Scholastica and the University of Minnesota. She worked at Camp Vermilion for several summers, (1974,'75, '76) . Vicki moved to Washington DC/ Virginia area in 1979, where she was employed as a sales representative for AT&T. She married Roger A. Esterby on October 27, 1979 in Duluth. They returned back to Minnesota and resided at Camp Vermilion in 1990, where Roger was site director. Vicki worked at the Cook Hospital in Public Relations from 1991- 2007, retiring in 2007 after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She resided at Carefree Living (2010), then the Cook Care Center (2012).
Vicki was a dedicated member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she served as a volunteer youth leader, sang in the choir, a member of the church council along with being in the women's bible study group. She worked in Community Educaton Theater as both an actor and director. Vicki was a board member of The Heiam Foundation, serving as coordinator and secretary. She enjoyed playing the cello in both high school and at Roanoke Church orchestra, loved listening to music (especially old standards, swing, big band music and musical theater), sewing and gardening.

She is preceded in death by her father Leslie Singleton in 1996.

Vicki is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 37 years Roger; two daughters, Meagan Esterby of Cook, and Katelyn (Ben Kingsbury) Esterby of Burlington, VT; mother, Lorraine Singleton of Duluth; three sisters, Sandy Sandwick of Sandstone, Sue Haffield of Two Harbors, and Leslie Singleton of Duluth; along with numerous special extended famil.

SERVICES: A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, June 24, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cook. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Bruce Hannem and Brenda Tibbetts, Associate in Ministry will be the officiant.. Music will be provided by Bailey Conger and Trinity Lutheran Church Choir. A reception in Vicki's honor will be held in the church social hall after the service, followed by burial in the Cook Community Cemetery. Arrangements are with Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook.
