Yvonne Claire
Swanson
Oct 26, 1941 — Oct 5, 2023
Yvonne Claire Swanson, 81, of Cook, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2023 at the Virginia Care Center.
Yvonne was born October 26, 1941 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Clyde and Betty (Brown) Duncanson. She grew up on the family farm in Alango and graduated from Buhl High School. She married Allen Swanson on August 27, 1960.
After Allen's service in the Navy, Allen and Yvonne settled down in the countryside outside of Cook to raise their family. Yvonne was a homemaker, member of the First Baptist Church of Cook and often volunteered as an election worker. After a good cup of coffee on the deck, Yvonne was happiest enjoying a hot summer day toiling in her garden or tending her lawn until dusk. The Flower Lady, as she was known, filled her yard, patio, surrounding woods and the yards of her family with beautiful plants, red geraniums being one of her favorites. Yvonne and Allen made several trips to Hawaii traveling with friends. They also enjoyed trips visiting extended family and the Alabama beaches on the Gulf. Yvonne was an avid shopper and could always find a bargain. After raising two sons, Yvonne took great pleasure in spoiling her three granddaughters.
Yvonne was preceded in death by Allen, her husband of 59 years, her father Clyde Duncanson, mother Betty Johnson, parents-in-law Arthur and Eva (Carlson) Swanson, and sister-in-law Ingrid (Anderson) Brownfield.
She will be deeply missed by her sons Troy (Denise) Swanson of Barnes, Wisconsin and Scott (Michelle) Swanson of Eveleth, Minnesota; granddaughters Raechel Swanson of Burnsville, Minnesota, Kaitlin (Cassidy) Thornberg of Eveleth, Minnesota and Lynsey (Daniel) Becker of Little Falls, Minnesota. Yvonne is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 14 at noon, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 at the First Baptist Church of Cook. Lunch will be served following the service. To leave an online condolence visit www.mlakerfuneralhome.com
